Question: If i want  to start practicing, what is the first thing to begin with it?

Answer: I think first of all you should start with  warming-up exercises. Do it carefully. It looks simple but very important for most of people, that's why we also call it as "basic kungfu".

Question: How many time it should take? Is 40 minutes enough? Do you think i should make it longer?

Answer: You can do it longer in the first month, then you can reduce.

Question: Which stances you have in your school?

Answer: In Vietnamese, stance is "Tấn".We have 7 basic stances:
  1. Trung Bình Tấn: "medium stance".Your 2 feet are parallel, your weight put the same in 2 legs
  2. Đinh Tấn: 1 foot is forward (70% weight), 1 is backward (30%)
  3. Trảo Tấn: contrary to "Đinh Tấn"
  4. Lưỡng Tấn: or side stance, your weight put mostly in 1 leg
  5. Xà Tấn: snake stance, similar to "Đinh Tấn" but the rate is nearly 100/0
  6. Hạc Tấn: crane stance, similar to "Trảo Tấn" but the rate is 100/0
  7. Miêu Tấn: cat stance, your legs are crossed
and we also have a special stance called "Kiềm dương tấn" normally used as basic chikung stance along with 7 stances we have 7 steps.

Question: What is the training program of your school?

Answer: in the basic level (1st year), we will have:
  • Warming-up exercise (or basic kungfu)
  • Foot works: 7 stances/steps
  • Basic power exercise ( in all 7 stances)
  • Basic relaxing exercise
  • Basic Thủ Đầu Quyền (the kata)
  • 1st supplement exercise of Thủ Đầu Quyền
  • 2nd supplement exercise of Thủ Đầu Quyền
  • 3st supplement exercise of Thủ Đầu Quyền
Question: How should I do basic relaxing exercises?

Answer: Remember to do it simple first, than step by step you can mix with other techniques. With the relaxing exercises, you should do with hand first, without moving, power,  stand in 1 place, do with hand only first , very gently and no power. Elbow > shoulder > carpus is the order to do, they're 3 joins of your arms. Firstly one hand, then 2 hands. It's nearly the same as when you train with Thủ Đầu Quyền basic exercises. Now about the movements, in fact, there are only 2 ways to move:  straight line and curve line (furthermore the circle). Straight line: up-down, left-right, forward-backward - it's simple to start. Then we continue to the curve line ... The curve line is used to connect between the straight lines, the straight line is cut from the curve line. Generally, they're the same as Yin-Yang
You should start with the very simple ones, then continue step by step to complex ones and after several steps you will come back to the very simple ones.
